Did you ever have a conversation with yourself? You know the kind of conversation that takes place within your own head. It's a completely silent conversation, but it still takes place. It's as if there are two people within you, literally having a conversation. As a matter of fact, many poets and spiritual masters have spoken of two separate beings being present within each human being. In any case, the fact that we all have these conversations with ourselves is a fact and most of the time we talk ourselves out of doing the things that we should be doing.I'm literally speaking of the battle with yourself that goes on virtually every day of your life. The battle that is waged in your head when you talk yourself out of doing things that should be done. I'm not speaking of intuition here, which is more of a "feeling". I'm speaking of the actual conversations inside of yourself.When these conversations happen, and you talk yourself out of doing something, what is the determining factor behind that decision? That's correct; the determining factor behind making the decision NOT to do something is fear! And it's a funny thing because fear isn't real. I think Confucius said it best when he said, "If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?" If you really sit down and think about this quote, you will realize that it makes a ton of sense.We manufacture fear within our own heads and then allow that fear to prevent us from doing things. In the sales arena, which is the arena that everyone with their own business plays in, the fear of people saying "no" can cripple said business. So what if someone isn't interested in whatever it is that you do? It really doesn't matter, because many people won't be interested. That's the nature of the game. Many won't and a few will, that's how the game works.The important thing to remember is that you must win the battle with yourself. When that voice in your head tells you that you don't need to bother making the next call or talking to the next person, remember that in reality you DO need to press on. To achieve any level of success you have to do what most people aren't willing to do, and that begins with winning the battle with yourself.
