Why is it that people voluntarily gamble their money, and receive nothing in return? It's because of the possibility of receiving more than what you "invested", and in this sentence the word invested is being used more loosely than creamed corn! How insane is this kind of thinking?

Many people, including myself at one time in my life, claim that they gamble because it's entertaining. After all they give you "free" drinks when you gamble. By the way, those drinks aren't at all "free" you just think they are. And, as I've alluded to, what the hell is so entertaining about getting nothing for something? It shows our lack of concern for our money and ourselves that flashing lights and dinging sounds entertain us. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest reasons we enjoy turning something into nothing.

We, as a culture, spend more time being entertained by flashing lights and dinging noises than we do exploring the things that are really important in life. That's one big reason that we will voluntarily turn something into nothing. Just think of gambling this way: It's like a reverse ATM machine. You put your money into this reverse ATM, and it gives you seventy five percent less money back. Would you put your money into this machine? Then why do you gamble your money in all the ways mentioned in this article? All that your really doing is turning something into nothing.
