The Boston Globe and BostonWorks, Boston’s leading recruitment services provider, have distributed the fourth issue of its the DiversityBoston supplement focusing on issues of importance to Boston’s multicultural communities. The publication was distributed in the October 29 edition of The Boston Sunday Globe, reaching more than 600,000 households in Greater Boston. According to the City of Boston’s Office of New Bostonians, more than half of Boston’s residents identify themselves as belonging to part of a diverse group identified by the EEOC guidelines. Massachusetts had the seventh largest immigrant population in the country, and more than 25% of Boston’s population is foreign-born, with that percentage continuing to rise. DiversityBoston is designed to celebrate the multiculturalism of the city while exploring the importance of diversity in the workplace, in the community and in the lives of local residents. In addition to distribution through The Boston Globe, the supplement will be distributed through the Bay State Banner, Boston’s renowned African-American weekly newspaper, and El Mundo, the city’s leading Latino newspaper, adding an additional 60,000 to the total circulation of the publication. The supplement will be distributed with El Mundo November 1 and also with the Bay State Banner November 2. “Boston has become a city that truly celebrates the ethnic and lifestyle differences of its residents,” said Jason Kissell, managing director of BostonWorks. “DiversityBoston is designed to explore issues of diversity in the city, to celebrate multiculturalism and to focus on what it means to the community and the workforce.” The recent issue of Diversity Boston, which is published twice each year, features stories on the success of second-generation families, the keys to marketing to a diverse audience and how advances in technology are changing the lives of people with disabilities.
