The gallbladder is one of the small parts of the body, which actually has a very important contribution to the organism. It is located near the liver, on the right part of the abdomen. The big part that this small structure accomplishes is to store bile. Bile is produced by the liver and its purpose is to digest the fat that we eat. Before it is released in the intestine, bile is stored in the gallbladder. To further understand what can go wrong with the gallbladder, the next thing to know is what gallstones are. They are stones that are formed in the gallbladder, when this structure is not working properly. Bile, which is stored in the gallbladder, is made out of bilirubin, cholesterol and bile salts. When the gall bladder starts to function bad, solid crystals are formed. In most of the cases, if not all, the crystals are made of cholesterol. In most of the gallbladder cases, the disfunctional gall bladder which produces stones is the reason why pain appears in the first place and not the stones themselves. An exception is made when the stones actually block the bile duct.Like many other diseases, this two can be found in certain types of people, rather than all of them. It is common amongst people who are over fourty years old, in fat patients and especially women who are pregnant. There is also believed that some ethnic groups are more likely to be affected by this disease than others. People who suffer from diabetes are also a target.Gallbladder disease has many symptoms, but there is a very large possibility that a patient may not suffer from any of them. This is also the case in patients who have many gallstones. They are usually diagnosed by accident. But no matter when you start to develop symptoms for gallbladder disease, one thing is certain: they exist and are not very pleasant. At the top of the list we find the bililary colic. These are pain attacks. They can be felt in the upper right part of the abdomen, sometimes even in the back. This is a very severe pain and lasts for almost an hour. It can be associated with vomiting, nausea. Although these attacks are frequent, they can also be triggered by eating fat foods.Second we have the inflammation of the gallbladder. This can generate into an infection if not treated in time. It can cause a lot of pain and fever. If this condition lasts more than one day, the smart thing to do is see a doctor.
