So they both, Professor Gihberne and the author took the drug. After they opened their eyes everything was still. It seemed like nothing moved. The curtain on the window was with a corner high flapping briskly in the breeze. A man who was riding a bicycle outside was still and immovable, there was a frozen puff of dust behind his driving wheel. To demonstrate how slow the time was Gihberne tried to drop the glass but it simply hang in air motionless. They decided to go outside and see how they feel among people. But the author was surprised to find out that everybody and everything around was still and immovable. There were people like themselves but yet not like them, all people were frozen in careless attitudes and caught in mid-gestures. They could see and observe each gesture, each smile, each emotion and each glance of men. They watched a bee in its flight, but it seemed to be still and did not even stir. They enjoyed walking among motionless people who looked like frozen. Though actually those people were alive, it was them who moved so fast that it was impossible to notice them. They were going so fast that soon felt infernally hot. All this gave them a feeling of superior. Just imagine! All that they had said and thought and done since the stuff had begun its work in their veins had happened, so far as those people and the whole world went, in the twinkling of an eye.

The action of the drug had ceased when they started running, it passed very quickly. Now they found themselves among people moving as fast as they were in the world with all its sounds and gestures. The effect “The New Accelerator” had on them was that the whole world stopped for their convenient inspection. Though, I believe, they did not get enough time to do it in a proper way when they took the preparation the first time. As it was mentioned the disadvantage of the drug is that a person who takes it starts growing old thousand times faster as well. It was an absolute acceleration of life itself. Suppose a man repeatedly dosed with such a preparation: he would be an adult at eleven, aged at twenty-five, and by thirty on the road to senile decay.

Nowadays a lot of people take different kinds of drugs to achieve about the same result as the one described in the book. I believe that we should try to stop and enjoy each moment of our lives without taking any drugs. We all must learn to notice incredibility of each thing, see marvels in every second of our existence, and watch beauty in each person we meet. We do not need any drug or preparation to feel happy about being alive and to make content everybody around. This world is full of wonders and it is up to people to stop and enjoy them.
