In the past computers and their accompanying printers were huge. Toner reservoirs and toner cartridges were used instead of ink cartridges like the ones in use today. Toner cartridges were difficult and messy to fill. The toner cartridges were an advancement. Some printers ran on print wheels and some used ribbons. Computers are compact and printers now do more than just print on some cases. Cartridges with self-contained reservoirs are used in printers. Refilling some cartridges is possible and it isn't as messy as adding toner was. Two types of printers cartridges now exist. Hewlett-Packard and Epson printers primarily, used the first type the Peizo Electric. Even though changing a toner cartridge isn’t an everyday task, most printer manufacturers have attempted to make this job as easy as possible. Start by opening the cover to your printer. Just how you do this will depend on the printer you have, but generally your printer will have a notch or tab that denotes the correct spot to pull in order to open the cover. Next remove the empty toner cartridge using the dedicated handle or tabs; keep your hands clear of any wayward toner particles. Remove the new toner cartridge from the package and remove any additional coverings or pieces of tape the manufacturer might’ve placed over the roller of the cartridge. Once you remove any extra packaging materials, simply insert the cartridge into the open slot in your printer. Most toner cartridges will have an arrow to tell you the proper way to insert it into a printer. Also helpful is the fact that toner cartridges should only fit into your printer one way. Make sure the cartridge fits securely in the printer, but don’t push too hard. If you have any question as to whether the cartridge is fitting correctly, pull it out and reinsert it.
