Top Sales Speaker Says: Only Fakes Have No Stories To Tell!

I was just gazing at an article I submitted a few minutes ago when something hit me.

I tell one story after another, and I’m proud of that.

Each one comes from an experience I’ve had, not simply from a book I’ve read, or another article that I’m imitating.

If you have vast experience, you too have stories that you can summon to breathe life into the points you’re trying to make.

But if you’re the new kid on the block, or you’re merely posing as a pro, all you’ll be able to do is tap out yet another piece that dryly refers to “5 Ways to Refinance Your Mortgage.”

Those 5 points could have easily been purloined from yet another purported guru’s five point list, or from a software program that sells bundles of articles for “private labeling.”

I believe it was Aristotle who said, when communicating. “Example is more efficacious that precept.”

This is a fancy way of saying that one good story is worth a thousand bullet points.

And this reminds me of a story…

One of my favorite college professors didn’t think much of bullet points or dry ideas. He endorsed the notion of using drama in your messages, and I recall him saying that you could learn a lot of stupid things about World War II by devouring statistics, or you could invest in reading the great novel, “From Here To Eternity” and that would teach you a lot more about the MEANING of war.

Consider this when evaluating the credibility of a writer or a speaker.

If they’ve really been there, they’ll always have stories to tell!
