A new line of transformers are being launched for a soon to be released film. Gone are the days of the old cold war, fighter jets, hand guns and mobile base stations. In this brave new world battles will be fought at a micro level. The result is the new transformers have taken on a real life everyday object slant! And guess what the makers of the recent transformer film could not leave out - one of the most ubiquitous objects of the late 90’s and early naughties – the mobile phone! This transformers name is Speed Dial 800, although I am being a little pre-emptive – it’s not out until July 07!! Speed Dial 800 looks like your standard flip phone, but this is no Motorola Pebl. This phone transforms into mean lean fighter machine when you hit the wrong buttons! – The great news is he’s a good guy or an Autobot for the more familiar. Will Speed Dial 800 be able to withstand the obligatory dropped phone syndrome of a Saturday night around town, or an attack of a jealous mugger on the high street – well these questions remain to be answered that’s is until the movie release! Still it would be able to give the some of the cheap mobile phones a run for their money – to date no announcement as been made with regards Speed Dial 800 preferential mobile network – but were thinking T mobile Flext tariff would be suitable for this transformer. How long before one of the main manufacturer out there decides to build a live version of Speed Dial 800 is a question I think needs answering. The other key question is would it be a must have for the kids or the 30 something’s trying to re-live there childhood.
