The border between Europe and Asia since antiquity is the Bosphorus. Population of İstanbul increased from 2 to about 12 million inhabitants. Originally the name refers only to the western part of Turkey Anatolia peninsula.Asia side is 757,000 sq. km, makes 97% of Turkish territory and slightly below 2% of the whole of Asia. It is in the south of the Mediterranean limited, in the north from the Black Sea, west of the Aegean Sea and the north-west of the Bosporus, Marmara Sea and Dardanelles. The eastern limit of Asia part is not precisely defined. For the sake of simplicity it is usually associated with the eastern border of Turkey. Population and Religion Population of Turkey has doubled since 1930 (12 million) and increased to 70-72 million (European Turkey)currently , representing a doubling every 34 years. Today it consists of Turks, Kurds and other Turkish tribes. There are also other minorities such as the Zaza, Albanians, Arabs, Armenians, Bulgarians, Georgians, Laz, Greeks, Persians and Circassians.So you will have seen a harmony of Asia,Middle East and Europe. The beautiful country has got many other attractions in different regions like Marmaris,Kusadasi and Bodrum.
