Article marketers may be aware that they are straddling a gray area of law. The federal government and specifically the Federal Trade Commission enforce unfair and deceptive advertising practices. Now you may say what is this have to do with online article marketers?Well, it may surprise you that many of the online article marketers are actually breaking the spirit of the law and it is only a matter of time until the law is revised to encompass their activities. Should the field of online article marketing be regulated in the future? Well yes I believe it should. Why do I say that? Because I have witnessed deception in Buzz marketing, which is something that the Federal Trade Commission has looked at previously. There are some articles online at some article submission sites written by a group of people that are using fake names and Buzz Marketing Bylines, to send targeted Internet Traffic to them. Some day the FTC will crack down on these people, because of the above before mentioned reasons.Perhaps these folks might like to educate themselves. The FTC and other groups are not only after Spam, Phishing, Identity theft and online scams. They are after Buzz Marketers pretending to be objective consumers and fake names of authors qualifies as pretending.http://blj.ucdavis.edu/article/637/http://www.technologymarketing.com/bw/news/recent_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001307628http://www.ftc.gov/speeches/majoras/060503eraspeech.pdf#search=%22buzz%20marketing%20scams%20ftc%22It would behoove all online article marketers to understand the law in the regulations that concern online marketing, as well as deceptive trade practices in advertising. This will keep them from getting into trouble in the future and or breaking the law. I sincerely hope you will consider all this in 2006.
