It is surprising that in this 21st century certain acts that are thought to be of the 19th century era still persist in our world today. Many would be wondering what kind of act is that, but to put it this way, why should we still be talking about old things when we should be developing our “Mental Set” in the right direction. I’m talking about WOMEN TRAFFICKING: What bothers me is why should our women harm themselves,our women are promised bounties not just for themselves but for their families when they leave the country. Trying to leave the disease that is tearing many homes apart that disease being POVERTY is still in our mist. Seeing other girls who have ventured into this business in the past others would do any thing just to get PASSPORTS to other foreign lands all in the name of greener pasture I keep asking myself is there not an alternative to this ? Can’t someone help this situation? These women have potentials in them and I for one believe in what a woman can do. I see the African woman being blessed with potentials in them. Look at the many Fortune 500 companies in the USA, women are running many of them. The same can be applied here in Africa where women should see themselves as a force to reckon with. If these women can focus more on making use of the best tools technology has provided they would go a long way in achieving a lot Women can empower themselves with ICT tools, ICT mean Information Communication Technology and they are those tools that facilitate Information creation, storage, retrieval and dissemination. A clear example of such tools are fax machines, telephones computer and the Internet which allows users to achieve their potentials. Women can empower themselves using these tools in order to produce efficiency for themselves. One way in ensuring these women are empowered is by creating an enabling environment pressing more on this Non Governmental Organizations have better opportunity in presenting such tools to these women Government Agencies are not left out, they can help in providing funds for such agencies to perform their duties. It has been identified that encouraging small businesses is the key and women can do very well, in business than Men. If only they are encouraged they will go a long way in achieving much. There is no doubt that the Internet today is the greatest tool the world has ever experienced women can be encouraged to set up a web presence for their businesses. A lot of companies are out there looking for an opportunity to get to the Internet, if women have an edge in web designing they would be for the better. Web development skill is one of the simplest skills you can easily acquire in Information technology it is no surprise that even 10 year old's can design simple web pages in the US today. Women can take an active role in volunteering as the place to put in your time in empowering other women in your society. My hope is that with the Millennium development goals by 2015 women will never think of becoming slaves to a world that is moving forward. I conclude EMPOWER YOURSELF O YOU WOMAN AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIVES
