If you’ve realised that it’s time to set up an autoresponder to build your list but you’re not sure where to start or what to write, here’s some tips to get you started:- 1. Write as you would normally – don’t use a special style, don’t try and be someone else whose writing you admire and enjoy, write as you talk. Imagine yourself sitting in a comfortable armchair and having a chat with your reader – that will help to set a tone that will seem natural and be easy to read. 2. Write about what you know. This may seem obvious – but it’ll be very clear to your readers whether you know anything about the subject or not. 3. Add value – pass on useful information that can’t be found easily on the internet. Occasionally offer free information that you’ve found that will be relevant to your list. 4. Build trust – if you can create trust between yourself and your reader, you’re building up a relationship that will end up being profitable for you both. 5. Don’t pester them too much – writing once a week is quite enough, although you might want to write more often in the first week or so just to get them to remember your name! 6. Sign up for a few free newsletters – get a feel for what other people are doing that you like. My personal favourite is Dr Andy’s EZSEO at http://ezseonews.com. By reading ezines and newsletters, you’ll quickly find out what you don’t like – heavy sales pitches, daily “information” in your inbox and so on. 7. Enjoy it – take your time to write good, informative information. Do these simple things and you will build a good, loyal subscriber base who will be trusting and happy to buy from you.
