Publicity should be a part of every business marketing plan for their business or book. As a new author, it can mean a sharp increase in sales. For a new business, it can create word of mouth and more customers. For an established business, it can augment your current advertising and save you money, while increasing sales and brand recognition. We all need more good publicity. Sometimes it is hard to look at your business and figure out exactly where the opportunity is. Here is a short list ( there are many more) of ideas that you can use to get the publicity you want.A) Your Organization: Many organization are set up to take advantage of Free PR opportunities. For example NAWBO has a section on their website where you can contact the PR community, share success stories and provide media interviews.B) Your Contests: Many businesses have contests. The contest itself is not media worthy, but by connecting with something topical or a non-profit organization you can make it newsworthy.C) Blog Comments: We all read at least one blog. Next time do not just lurk( read and go away) answer, post a questions, make a comment. These comments are easily read by the search engines on the web and make you more visible. Do not forget add your URL!D) Product Placement: Get your product on a TV show as part of the show. You can list your product with a placement agency, or call a producer and offer your product as a giveaway. If you know a drama or comedy movie producer, see if you can get your product on the set as part of the show.E) An Unusual use of your Product or Service: If someone uses your product or service completely differently than what people usually use it for, it’s a good springboard for publicity. Go back over the testimonies and good reviews you have gotten and see what you can use. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope you make 2007 your PR year.
