Eric Hartwell's Articles in Movies

  • Anna Nicole Smith - The Biography
Most know about the recent Anna Nicole Smith tragedy- a young, beautiful, woman found dead for no apparent reason. A young life wasted before it was time to quit. Youth, money, power and corruption gone wrong? In honor of her, a movie is being made about her life and should begin as early as next month- to release the movie while people are still upset over the ordeal.
  • Movie 300 - Box Office Success
When the movie 300 hit commercials in the forms of previews, there was a huge stir in many communities. The movie looked like it could be the next classic war film - with its stunning visuals and unique story.
  • Small Soldiers
A group of toy soldiers are fitted with computer chips and this allows them to learn all sorts of commands. They are called the commando elite. The leader is named Major Chip Hazard and after their computer chip changes, they try to muscle in on an Ohio suburb and take over from other toys [these are affectionately called the Gorgonites].
  • Shrek 1 And 2
There is very little to say about these films that you probably don't already know. Shrek is that lovable ogre who likes to be scary but rarely is. The films are made by DreamWorks and both of them [Shrek 1 and Shrek 2] can be watched either alone or together.
  • Friends 1994 - 2003
Perhaps in every living room in America and beyond, Friends is well known for a timeless quality and air of freedom, cameraderie and acceptance. The only reason the episodes have become dated is simply because the have been going for so long. Typecasting is difficult to avoid.
  • The Elephant Man
This film is an epic story but one which is rather sad at times. It should make you cry - or at least hold back the tears. The Elephant Man is a classic figure in film history being a freak human with gross disfigurements. His deformities mean that he is part of a traveling freak show and this is how he makes his living.
  • Oliver Twist
The original story of Oliver Twist by Dickens is bit sombre and negative. A poor boy works in a workhouse where he is subjected to abuse. He is later surrounded by thieves in London and other boys from similar deprived backgrounds. It saddens the heart and allows one to think only of greed, poverty, corruption and perceived power.
  • The Sound of Music
You must have been living in a cave if you have not heard of and probably seen The Sound of Music. Many people will have seen this film many times over such is its timeless quality.
  • Talk Show Hosts That Irritate
There are different degrees of chat shows. Some of us like one whilst others are preferred by others. It's human nature I expect. But the formats of chat shows do vary a bit. And so, too, do the presenters or hosts.
  • Night at the Museum: Don't Go and Watch It
This has got to be the best film that I have seen in a long time. I took my young son with me and he also said that it was "absolutely brilliant" and I have to say he is in no way easily pleased. A typical youngster!
