  • An Orphan or an Abortion or what's in those "Cider House Rules"
There are two thoughts stated in the film and after each there stands one of those characters. Dr.Larch, talented ether-addicted doctor, lives in the orphanage among small kids (whom he names “life”), delivers babies and performs abortions.
  • White Noise: Consumerism and Mass Media
Jack Gladney, as a consumer may feel free, independent and powerful to create his own future, but the feeling of satisfaction soon fades away and the feeling of emptiness returns, because the only thing he really is able to control is the number of goods he can buy and the amount of money he spends.
  • The Iliad
Classical literature is an amazing source of masterpieces of writing of any genre and style. Everyone can find something of his interest in classical novels and works. In the following article I am going to look into stories of ancient writers and philosophers and especially I would like to stop on such literature work as The Iliad as one of the most prominent and outstanding works of the whole world literature history.
  • Ernest Hemingway
In Ernest Hemingway's works we wanted to describe the main principle of his creation. We looked up at the opening of this principle in his works such as "A Farewell to Arms", "The Sun Also Rises", "For whom the Bell Tolls". "The Sun Also Rises" tells of the moral collapse of a group of expatriated Americans and Englishmen, booked by the war, who turn toward all possible violent diversions.
  • "The New Accelerator" by H. G. Wells
The book I have read is "The New Accelerator" by H. George Wells. It is a short story about two friends, Professor Gihberne and the author himself. The book tells about a new discovery of a professor and what impact it may have on human beings and human life. Professor Gihberne is a famous physiologist and for a long time has been working on studying the impact of diverse drugs upon the nervous system. Besides he is a prominent chemist who has made very important discoveries.
  • The New Accelerator
Both, Professor Gihberne and the author took the drug. After they opened their eyes everything was still. It seemed like nothing moved. The curtain on the window was with a corner high flapping briskly in the breeze. A man who was riding a bicycle outside was still and immovable, there was a frozen puff of dust behind his driving wheel. To demonstrate how slow the time was Gihberne tried to drop the glass but it simply hang in air motionless. They decided to go outside and see how they feel among people. But the author was surprised to find out that everybody and everything around was still and immovable.
  • John Jakes' "North and South"
I have read the book of John Jakes "North and South". This is a historical novel writing at its best. When the book was published, there was so much ado about the book. The novel became a real bestseller, one of the greatest novels in American History. The New York Times wrote about the book: "On the history of the U.S. book publishing, there has never been such a success story quite like that of John Jakes."
