It is a common knowledge that cigarette industry is going downwards, however, Marlboro is only getting stronger at the same time. Every third American chooses to smoke Marlboro. Marlboro is a dominant brand domestically and worldwide. Marketing Management - Hotel Industry The hotel industry used to depend on the hotel brand mostly. Of course, the service quality plays a great role in the hotel brand leading or loosing position. However, hotel industry is highly competitive and more was needed than just a quality and the brand name. Hilton designed a custom loyalty program that helped it to save the leading position in the market. Hilton HHonors was created to build up the customer loyalty to the hotel brand worldwide. Benchmarking and its Effectiveness Benchmarking was introduced as we know it now in 1979 by Xerox. The company had a problem with the product sales because of the Japanese competitors. To solve this problem Xerox decided to compare their product quality and features to Japanese products. Ever since the process of implementing the best practices with the help of comparison is referred to as benchmarking. Unique Advertisement - Shock Value Technique Advertisements became a part of our life. They are everywhere and we are so used to them that often we don't even notice them anymore. However, some of the advertisement images capture our attention and stay in our minds for a very long time. Advertisements can evoke the wide variety of emotions in people. Every advertisement is different from one another. In this article I will concentrate on the advertisement idea of one of the leading clothing companies- "United Colors of Benetton" Sales Promotion and Advertising All activities that producer does to manipulate the consumer’s buying decision is referred to as Sales Promotion. The manufacturer needs to communicate, persuade and motivate people in order to influence their behavior. Advertising is one of the most common promotional tools. Discounts, demonstrations and free samples are also defined as promotional tricks. Sales promotion takes place in order to increase the sales of product. Sexual Content of Advertisement Along with the IT development and globalization, the sexual revolution took place. About 50 years ago the word sex publicly was used only in terms of gender. The movies did not contain sexual images of any kind. However, business people came to realize that sex content helps to sell products. Now, almost every advertisement contains sex or is sexually oriented. "Sex sells." Marketing Concept Most people define marketing as promotion that takes form of advertising on TV, radio, etc. In reality the concept of marketing consists of a lot more functions. The purpose of marketing is to define consumer's needs and wants, and to combine different strategies in the most efficient way. Marketing is a consumer oriented concept.
