So great is the taboo on suicide that some people will not speak the word. The news papers is reluctant to print accounts of it. During the last twenty-five minutes somewhere in the United States someone committed suicide. Statistically, there are about 35,000 people who kill themselves each year in the United States. An estimated ten to forty times that number who try to kill themselves but didn't for one reason or another. Research suggests that it is twice as frequent in some European countries. In many communities suicide occur more frequent than homocide or traffic accident.
